Hurray! July 23rd is National Hotdog Day!

A hot dog  or hotdog  is a cooked sausage, traditionally grilled or steamed and served in a sliced bun as a sandwich.

The fact that every July 23rd is celebrated as  National Hotdog Day all over the world is no longer news!

The pertinent issue is to understand that the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council has designated July as Hot Dog Month and since July 23rd is an unofficial National Hot Dog Day,  million of hot dogs are usually sold at a time like this. This goes to show how much people love and cherish hotdogs!

Whether they are grilled, boiled, broiled, pan-fried, rotisserie cooked, cooked on a stick over a campfire or any other way, hot dogs are definitely relished as favorite summertime staple.

Hotdog could be  sometimes plain or garnished with one or a combination of mustard, carrots, ketchup, onions, mayonnaise, relish, cheese, bacon, chili, or sauerkraut amongst others.

 

 They are however loved by children and adults as well!

It is pertinent to note that on  May 31st, 2012 – World record for the most expensive hot dog was initiated. The “California Capitol City Dawg” reportedly sold for $145.49 at Capitol Dawg in Sacramento, California.

I can hear you exclaim “waohhh” whats so special?

According to an internet report, This particular “California Capitol City Dawg” had the following  features:

  • A grilled 18″ all-beef, in natural casing frank from Chicago

  • it was served on a fresh-baked herb and oil focaccia roll spread with white truffle butter before being grilled

  • it was topped with whole grain mustard from France, garlic and herb mayonnaise inclusive

  • it was sauteed  with chopped shallots, organic mixed baby greens as well as  maple syrup

  • twas marinated/fruit-wood  with smoked uncured bacon from New Hampshire

  • chopped tomatoes, sweetened dried cranberries, chopped tomato and expensive moose cheese from Sweden were all added

  • basil olive oil/pear-cranberry-coconut balsamic-vinaigrette and ground peppercorn were also added

  • The report however  noted that proceeds from the sale of each 3 lb. super dog were donated to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
