Making Akwa Ibom State an Agricultural Hub!
The Ministry of Agriculture in Akwa Ibom State say it is keying into the vision of Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to make the state a major agricultural hub in Nigeria.
The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Matthew Nathan Ekaette, who made this known, pledged to ensure that his Ministry work assiduously in diversifying the State’s monolithic economy driven over the years by oil cash from the Federation Account.
Ekaette who made the vow during a formal reception organized by the Ministry in his honour, said “through the adequate development and implementation of appropriate agricultural policies, the state will become a leading food producer in the country.”
He noted that “It will aggressively harness the agricultural potentials of Akwa Ibom state for food security and wealth creation adding that under his watch at the Ministry, top priority will be placed on value chain, in addition to food production with a view to exploring the agricultural markets.
This is not only in Nigeria but Africa and the world.
