Distillers and Blenders Association Protest NAFDAC’s Ban on Alcoholic Sachets

The Distillers and Blenders Association of Nigeria has declared its intention to stage a protest at the Lagos office of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) against the ban on the production and sale of alcoholic beverages in sachets.

The association which announced that the protest would take place on (Tuesday) at the NAFDAC Office located on the Lagos-Oshodi Apapa Expressway in Isolo, Lagos declared that it was a peaceful protest against NAFDAC’s ban on alcoholic beverage drinks in sachets and pet bottles.

The association’s decision to protest comes shortly after the Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, announced that the agency would commence enforcement of the ban on the importation, manufacturing, distribution, sale, and use of alcoholic beverages packaged in sachets, PET, and glass bottles of 200ml and below.

This development underscores the brewing tensions between regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders, highlighting the need for dialogue and collaboration to address concerns from all parties involved.
