The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development ,Doctor. Akinwumi Adesina, has declared that the rice sub-sector has generated about N470 billion  to the Nigerian economy in  the three and half years of the implementation of the rice transformation agenda of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

It would be recalled that Adesina had last year described  the rice transformation programme of the present administration as added N320billion to the nation’s economy.

He also said over the last three years that the rice sub-sector in Nigeria has attracted over $2.6billion of private sector investments.
