Welcome to the National Dairy Month.

It all started in the year 1937, which reportedly saw the establishment of the Dairy Month.

A campaign to help encourage people to strengthen bones and build a foundation of good health by drinking rich, creamy and healthy milk was put in place.

The celebration included milk and all its derivatives like Ice Cream, Yoghurt, all kinds of cheese, Cream, Butter, Casein, Custard, Buttermilk, Malted milk, Sweet cream, Sour cream, and caseinates amongst many others.

Owing to this, every year, many dairy farmers use this month of June to celebrate a lot of things that are added to the long and broad range of Dairy products.

According to the International Dairy Foods Association, the National Dairy Month started out as National Milk Month in 1937 as a way to promote drinking milk.

Although it was initially created to stabilize the dairy demand when production was at a surplus, but, it has now developed into an annual tradition that celebrates the contributions the dairy industry has made to the world.

This comes after the National Dairy Council stepped in to promote the cause, and thus the name was however changed to “Dairy Month.”

It is, however, pertinent to note that the National Dairy Month is a great way to start the summer with nutrient-rich dairy foods.

From calcium to potassium, dairy products like milk contain nine essential nutrients which may help to better manage the weight of the body, reduce the risk for high blood pressure, osteoporosis and certain cancers.

Whether it’s protein to help build and repair the muscle tissue of active bodies or vitamin A to help maintain healthy skin, dairy products are well known as natural nutrient powerhouse.

So, go ahead and join in the celebration.
