Nigerian Customs Service Destroys Imported Chicken in Edo State!

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Federal Operation Unit, Zone C has reportedly  destroyed 1, 365 cartons of imported frozen products valued at N11.56 million in Benin city, the Edo State Capital.

This is contained in a statement by the Comptroller of Zone C, Mr Victor Dimka, in Benin  which was released on Sunday, 29th November, 2015.

According to the statement, 1,205 cartons of the 1, 365 cartons contained imported frozen poultry products, valued at N9.6 million. The remaining 160 cartons contained frozen fish estimated at about N1.9 million respectively.

The statement said the items were destroyed on Saturday at the NSC office in Benin and added that the items were seized on Thursday by officers and men of NCS in the Benin-Ekiadolor area of Edo at about 1.00 p.m.

The Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the poultry products and frozen fish are N1.5 million and N2.2 million, respectively.

It would be recalled that earlier in the month, Customs destroyed some of these smuggled meat in Port Harcourt by buring them in the ground,  reports say some residents went to dig up the these Chickens and went home to cook them.
