A frozen fish seller, in Lagos, Nigeria has reportedly appeared before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly obtaining N3.9 million frozen fish under false pretenses.
This is according to the News Agency of Nigeria which reported that 55-year-old Tawa Kollington, whose is address unknown, is facing a two-count charge of stealing and obtaining money under false pretences.
Although she pleaded not guilty, the prosecutor, Inspector Roman Unuigbe, told the court that the accused committed the offences in December 2014 .
Unuigbe said Kollington obtained cartons of fish valued at N3.9 million, property of Lawrence Olowokere with the promise to pay by installment.
He stated that she sold the cartons of fish, but refused to pay as promised stressing that the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 285 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
