Prices of Sachet Water Increases in Nigeria!

Residents of Dutse in Jigawa  State have  decried the sudden increment in prices of sachet water also known as “pure water’’ in the state.

A cross section of residents who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the 100 per cent increment was unreasonable.

Reports say a bag of sachet water has risen from N60 to N120.

A resident who gave his name as Usman Abba said the producers of sachet water deliberately increased the prices because of high demand due to the hot weather. He  noted that a sachet water he used to buy for N5 was now N10.

Another resident Adamu Salisu, has however appealed to government to intervene and help to control the prices of packaged water, stating that the producers were taking consumers for granted because of necessity of the product.

Meanwhile, the State Chairman of the  Association of Table Water Producers, Umar Baba-Yaro has declared that the major material used in producing the water had been increased by more than 100 per cent.

Baba-Yaro explained that the price of a tone which was N550, 000 in December 2015 increased to N750, 000 in February.
According to him, the price of nylon had also risen from N750, 000 to N1.3 million in March.

Well, the prices of sachet have increased in Lagos also! A bag of sachet water now sells for a 150 naira in the entire State!
