Growing up in Lagos, Nigeria some years ago, precisely between the 90s and the New millennium, we were introduced to what many people used to call ERUKU OSHODI (smiles).

At that time, many foodies did not understand what that meant, but I remembered vividly the introduction of SUCO beverage into the Nigerian Market and I remember how this gradually evolved to an household name in Nigeria.

I also remembered way back, how the jingle of SUCO, SUCO used to blast through our listening ears as we put on our radios.

However, I was privileged to meet the Agropreneur behind the beverage which at that time, had become a household name, Mr Duro Kuteyi as I started working as a An Agro and Food Journalist, especially by pushing Food Journalism on Radio.

And so we moved on. But one beautiful day, while GourmetGuide234 Kitchen oh, gourmetguide234.com was planning to host the annual World Food Day, the Nigerian way, the CEO, Spectra Nigeria, Duro Kuteyi and the CEO, Bama Foods, Prince Wale Bama Oyekoya came on board to be part of the annual event.

Spectra products were displayed and many foodies who graced the occasion had a feel of the food products. We however got busy with so many things and almost lost touch.

Fast forward to 2022, a couple of weeks ago, while attending the Eko Chocolate festival 2022, & Cocoa Award and Dinner at the Four Points by Sheraton, we had a reunion. The pleasure is to see Spectra products still available jn the African Markets as well as globally.

Spectra Industries Limited has thrived in Nigeria for decades, wow, 30 or 40 solid years is not child’s play.

Visiting the Factory again, which is located around Suco Road, Oko-Oba, Lagos after several years, I celebrate the grace, consistency and resilience of thriving through the vicissitudes of the Nigerian story, especially in Food and Agriculture.

I am delighted to see that many Food products have been born as well. This entreprenual journey is worth celebrating.
